Battery Management Note: Make sure the printer is connected to your computer and turned on before you select the Battery Management function. To see the battery charge level, and to charge or drain the battery pack that is installed in the printer: 1. Click on the desktop printer. 2. Choose Battery Management from the Printing menu. Battery status icons The icons tell you at a glance whether the battery pack is installed in the printer, is being charged or discharged by the printer. Battery charge level "E" means empty; "F" means full. Quick charge Do not choose the quick charge function unless you want to charge a new battery pack or you know that the battery pack has a very low charge level. Before charging, ensure that the power adapter is plugged in and the battery pack is installed in the printer. Click the Quick Charge button to start the process. The printer charges the new or completely empty battery pack in 6 hours. Discharge When nickel-cadmium battery packs are charged many times without being completely discharged, you may find that the printer begins to print fewer pages with each charge. If the battery pack is the primary power supply for your printer, completely discharge and fully charge the battery pack once a month to maximize its performance. Before discharging, ensure that the power adapter is unplugged and the battery pack is installed in the printer. Click the Discharge button to start the draining process. The discharge cycle takes up to 4 hours to complete, depending on the battery's initial charge level. Update To re-display the status and charge level of the battery pack that is installed in the printer, click the Update button.
